3DWeave
3DWeave is a versatile software tool that enables users to develop, visualize, and analyze all types of fabrics—from simple weaves to highly complex multilayer weave constructions. It provides an intuitive platform for exploring the geometric and structural possibilities of weaving designs, making it suitable for both conceptual development and detailed pattern evaluation.
The process begins with defining specific weave parameters, such as the number of warps, wefts, layers, and the size and color of the yarns. Users can set these parameters precisely to match the desired fabric characteristics, ensuring an accurate digital representation of the woven structure. Once parameters are established, the software automatically generates a visualization of the weave, allowing for immediate inspection and assessment of the design.
Check and modify individual weaves and compound weaves with ease, making it simple to experiment with different patterns or make adjustments within any system. The software supports the visualization of both single-layer weaves and multi-layer constructions, providing a comprehensive overview of how the various elements interact and combine.
One of the key features is the ability to connect different layers via specific points—which can be positioned, added, or removed as needed—and check these connections directly within the 3D view. This helps ensure the structural integrity and logical consistency of complex multilayer fabrics, facilitating the creation of intricate weave patterns or technical textiles with multiple functionalities.
Complex weave constructions involving two, five, or more layers can be designed, visualized, and analyzed seamlessly. The software also allows for the use of special geometrical yarn diameters and shapes, giving the designer full control over the visual and structural details of the fabric. This enables the development of highly customized textiles that meet precise technical or aesthetic requirements.
Overall, 3DWeave is an indispensable tool for textile engineers, designers, and researchers aiming to push the boundaries of woven fabric development, ensuring that ideas can be fully realized and evaluated in a realistic 3D environment.
3DWeave Composite
3DWeave Composite is an advanced software solution specifically developed to meet the demanding needs of technical fabric production, especially for high-performance weaving mills. Building on the capabilities of 3D Weave, the software extends its functionality to facilitate the development and visualization of complex multilayer woven structures and textile composites. This makes it an indispensable tool for engineers, research institutes, and technical textiles manufacturers aiming to innovate and optimize their fabric designs.
Creating technical fabrics and composites has never been easier. The new concept of 3D Weave Composite is based on the familiar workflow of technical fabric designers, focusing on developing bindings (weaves) or composites as cross sections of warp and weft. In practice, warp and weft threads from different layers are first drawn or drafted on squared paper, similar to traditional design methods. With 3DWeave Composite, these cross-sectional sketches can now be visualized and controlled interactively within a 3D environment, providing a realistic preview of the final fabric structure.
Cross Sections can be created quickly and accurately—the process involves only a few working steps. You can add specific information to each warp and weft thread, such as yarn type, thread size, or functional properties, which further enhances the detailed analysis and documentation of the technical fabric structure.
The software allows users to define specific parameters like yarn size and color. After setting these parameters, a 3D visualization of the composite fabric can be generated, offering an improved control and understanding of how the layers interact, how the final fabric will behave, and how individual parameters influence the overall structure.
For final production, the designed composite cross section can be converted into machine-specific weaving files—such as up/down (rapier or projectile) weaving files—optimized for your weaving machine. In addition, a colored BMP file can be exported, which provides a visual control image for Stäubli Unival Jacquard machines or similar equipment, ensuring precise pattern management and machine setup.
Overall, 3DWeave Composite offers a powerful set of tools to develop, visualize, and prepare advanced technical textiles and composites, streamlining the transition from design to production while supporting high technical standards for today’s innovative fabrics.
